Bad news for Garmin: TomTom merges with mapping company
TomTom has merged successfully with TeleAtlas, a company that deals with digital mapping applications. The new paradigm will be a GPS company with much more power and technlogical ability.
In the extremely fierce, competitive world of GPS, this deal could be a significant blow to Garmin. It remains to be seen exactly how this will impact the industry leader, and how/if Garmin will be able to respond, but rest assured they are watching TomTom very closely.
They may move ahead with their attempt to corner the mobile device market, which this blog personally thinks is a wise move.
